About our rescue
California suffers from a backyard breeding epidemic, and pugs are sadly one of the outputs. Pug rescues across the nation come to our state to save pugs from unsafe, unwanted, and undesirable situations, and there can never be enough help to tackle this crisis.
Founded by a group of experienced and passionate volunteers, Bay Area Pug Project was born from a shared love of pugs and a desire to build a strong, informed community around the breed. We believe that true rescue goes beyond saving dogs: it means educating the public, advocating for responsible ownership, and collaborating with other groups for maximum impact.
Pugs are more than cute snorts and curly tails: they’re complex little souls who deserve to be understood and cared for by informed and pug-obsessed homes like ours. Join us in making a difference.
